KCEOC Aquatic Club had four swimmers qualify to swim at this year’s Kentucky Swimming Short Course Yards Championships. A trio of swimmers in the 12 and under category competed in Louisville March 14 – 17.
Silas Black swam the 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.98, the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 40.04 and the 50 Backstroke with a time of 35.28.
Harris Brooks swam the 100 Butterfly stroke with a time of 1:38.62, the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:27.19, the 50 Butterfly stroke with a time of 39.17, the 50 Backstroke with a time of 38.70 and the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:30.12.
Mila Hammons swam the 50 Freestyle with a time of 29.29, the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 39.26 and the 50 Butterfly stroke with a time of 33.88.
“KCEOC Aquatic Club is very proud of these young swimmers, whom all strived to improve their time and become eligible to compete at the State Championship,” KCEOC wrote in a release.
Aiden Senel in the 13-14 men’s division, swam at the championship meet at Center College March 21-23. On March 21, he finished 13th in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:42.91, finished 10th in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:54.91 and finished off the day by taking second place medal for the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:28.81.
The following day Senel finished 11th in the 100 Butterfly stroke with a time of 57.35, finished 14th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.83 and finished off the night with a 4th place medal in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:01.54. On the last day, he started off taking an 8th place medal in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 52.20, in the 200 Butterfly stroke he took a 5th place medal with a time of 2:11. Senel finished off the meet as State Champion of the 1650 Freestyle (the mile) with a time of 17:46.91.
“KCEOC Aquatic Club is super proud of this young man who worked so hard to improve all of his times and has become part of elite group of Kentucky Swimming State Champions,” KCEOC wrote in the release.
KCEOC’s Aquatic Club is a privately funded competitive swimming program for the youth of Southeast Kentucky.
