Trick or Treating hours, Christmas open house, parade dates

Date:

Little ghosts and goblins will have two chances to trick or treat in Corbin on Halloween.

Downtown trick or treating on Main Street will take place from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31, while residential trick or treating will take place from 6 – 8 p.m.

Corbin Downtown Manager Jacob Roan thanked the Corbin JROTC for helping get fall decorations out in time for the recent Octoberfest celebration, and he thanked Shae Hensley and Jason Matthews for taking care of fine details and making sure that the decorations were just right.

“I have heard good things. I felt like it went really well. I am just super grateful,” Interim Corbin Tourism Director Emily Roberts said about the recent Octoberfest celebration, which was held Oct. 11 in downtown.

Roan added that the recent witches walk also went well, and plans are to keep it going and improve upon it next year.

Roberts noted that October is typically one of the busier times for people visiting Corbin with the fall leaves changing before things enter a slower period for tourism locally.

Corbin Tourism has already gotten out its request for proposals for a planned rebranding of Corbin Tourism and for the redesign of its website.

Roberts is also hoping to make some progress on the L&N history museum during the winter months.

“Believe it or not, L&N history brings a lot of people to our community. I think that just can be an amazing attraction for us to be able to offer to them,” she added.

Roan said there are a few holiday events that are slated for late November and early December.

The Corbin Christmas Open House is planned for Nov. 23 at Nibroc Park and a few other downtown businesses.

The Corbin Christmas Parade is slated for Dec. 6.

Roan said that he has already had about 15 people called inquiring about the parade.
“Hopefully we will have some more units than we have had with some special items in the parade this year,” he added.
