With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Glennis, who passed away on June 23, 2025. Born Glennis Rhodes on May 21, 1954, in Siler, KY, he was a beacon of love and laughter in every life he touched.
A beloved husband, devoted father, proud papaw and great-grandpapaw, and a man whose love for family, faith, and simple country living left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He was a man rooted in the land, and he found peace in the quiet work of it. He had a keen eye for ginseng and loved roaming the hills looking for it with patience and care, just like everything else he did. His garden was his pride—each row planted with love, each harvest a blessing he gladly shared. That’s the kind of man he was: steady, faithful, and always giving more than he took.
After marrying his beloved wife, Barbara Rhodes, on May 24, 1975, for over 50 years, he shared his life with his wife, his best friend and soulmate. Their bond was more than just marriage—it was a partnership built on laughter, tears, hard work, and unwavering love. They didn’t have it easy, but they had each other. They stood side by side through thick and thin, and they fit together like a hand fits a glove. What they had was rare, and it was real.
They raised a family with love and grit, watching their children grow into folks they were proud of. Their grandchildren brought them joy beyond measure, and God blessed Glennis to see his great-grandchild—a moment that filled his heart full.
Now, though the ache of loss is deep, we rest in the promise that he’s with the Lord, in a place of peace where pain no longer follows. And while this world feels a little colder without him, his love stays rooted in all of us.
Don’t Call Me Gone
Don’t call me gone—call me Home. I’ve just stepped beyond this life’s front porch, where the light is soft and peace runs deep.
When you search for me, look in the evening shadows, in the hush between the breeze and the trees, where I used to walk and where I still linger.
When you’re lonely, know I’m just an eye-close away. I’m the whisper you feel, the warmth in a quiet room, the love that wraps you when no words will do.
You were my heart—even after it stopped beating. You’ll always carry it with you, in every step you take, in every memory we made.
So don’t call me gone. Just know I’ve gone Home.
