The News Journal Forcht Bank Community Impact Scholarship awarded to 4 local students – The News Journal

Date:

Forcht Bank has awarded four graduating high school seniors a $5,000 scholarship as part of its Community Impact Scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year.

Since the scholarship program began in 2021, Forcht Bank has offered three scholarships per school year. This year, in honor of Forcht Bank’s 40-year anniversary, a fourth $5,000 scholarship was awarded.

Chloe Lefevers, Ella Sewell, Ashley Nevison and Chase Turner will each receive $5,000 to help further their education.

Lefevers, of Corbin High School in Corbin, Kentucky, plans to major in neuroscience at the University of Kentucky. Sewell, of Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky, plans to major in exercise science at Indiana Wesleyan University. Ashley Nevison, of duPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky, plans to major in anthropology at the University of Louisville. Chase Turner, of William Henry Harrison High School in Harrison, Ohio, plans to major in business economics at the University of Cincinnati.

As the name describes, the focus of the scholarship is on the impact each student made on enhancing their community amid other responsibilities, like academic, sports and employment.

“Forcht Bank believes in investing in the future, and that starts with supporting young leaders who are already making a difference in their communities. We’re proud to help these students take steps toward their careers and strengthening our communities for years to come,” said President and CEO Tucker Ballinger.

This year over 100 high school seniors applied with six students reaching the final stage for in-person panel interviews.

The two students who reached the final stage for interviews but were not awarded the full Community Impact Scholarship will each be given a $500 scholarship.

Applicants were evaluated on various areas including GPA, two essays, honors and awards, employment and extracurricular activities, and community involvement and volunteering. Eligible students included any graduating high school senior that resided in a market/county that Forcht Bank serves and has a physical presence.
